Year of No Fear: Three-Month Progress Report #2

Here we are again with another progress report.  This one covers April, May, and June. (For reference, here is my 2014 Manifesto I wrote back in January.)

As it turned out, I got a lot of things done.  Some are still in progress.  But overall, I feel pretty darned good about it.

April

~Photography: Took selfies almost every day with my Kindle Fire to get myself used to doing it again.  Unfortunately, I haven’t taken any since (but I AM pondering things so…some progress!)

~Erotica: I haven’t discussed this yet, but I challenged myself to write erotica, be it a short story, a novel, or novelette.  I worked out most of what I needed to begin writing: a premise, characters, possible plotty things.  And the title, which is Awaken Me.

~Poetry: 1 poem written.

May

~Poetry: Wrote 10 poems and edited 2 older drafts.  (Also, a bonus – 3 of the 10 new poems were about something I haven’t been able to write about for 5 years! Win!)

~Photography: Shoot #1 completed! Low light/HDR test run – A beautiful church that’s all lit up at night.

~Erotica: Began Awaken Me.  It’s about dancers who are also cat shifters.  7k written so far!

~Self-portraits: Still pondering.  Looking for good costuming.

~Revision: Began working on Grave Touched again (and going strong!).

~New project: Began a new novel called Soulfire that’s actually an older project refigured and replotted, etc.  Even though I said I’d be doing less drafting right now, the first scene kept calling me.  I promised myself that the revision (s) would come first.

June

~Photography/New place: Shoot #2 completed at a new place – a park close by where I live.  Got some lovely pictures, as well as some artsy ones.

~Gratitude: Started a Gratitude journal http://soulfearless.wordpress.com – Don’t have a problem coming up with things to be grateful for…just need to find the time to post them!

~Erotica: Continued working on Awaken Me.

~Diet: Been integrating more vegetables to meals.  Also made a new rule – 1 low-fat meal per week minimum to start.  I’d like to work up to at least 2 per week.  And as always, I have been watching my portion amounts.

~Revision: Continued working on Grave Touched.  Also came up with a new direction for one of my longest-running revisions ever (Flamebound).  Just need the time to work on it!

So that’s how the past three months have shook out.  I’m chipping away at the list, slowly and steadily.  I have faith that I can conquer my fears.

Are you trying to conquer any fears right now?  Would you consider a self-challenge like this one?

  1. Heh–I jumped on board and then fell down a well or something instead of going after my fears, but here it is July, and I’m leaving the place I’ve worked for nearly twelve years. That’s sure scary! But I think I’m going to love the new job. It’s helpful to think “no fear!” when I get to worrying.

  2. I agree with that! Just leaving the job you had is conquering a fear. Congrats. And I’m sure you’ll love it. 😉
